والذي أوجب النهي عن التصوير في شرعنا والله أعلم ما كانت عليه العرب من عبادة الأوثان والأصنام فكانوا يصورون ويعبدون فقطع الله الذريعة وحمى الباب
“Faktor yang mewajibkan adanya larangan menggambar dalam syariah kita –wallahu a’lam— adalah sejarah orang Arab sebelumnya yang suka menyembah berhala dan patung. Mereka itu dulunya menggambar lalu menyembah gambar itu. Maka Allah memutus jalan [kepada penyembahan itu] dan menutup pintunya [dengan mengharamkan menggambar]”. (Ibnul Arabi, Ahkamul Qur`an, 4/1588). (Al Mausu’ah Al Fiqhiyyah, 12/106; M. Ahmad Ali Washil, Ahkam At Tashwir fi Al Fiqh Al Islami, hlm. 152).
إن أولئك، إذا كان فيهم الرجل الصالح فمات، بنوا على قبره مسجدا، وصوروا فيه تلك الصور، فأولئك شرار الخلق عند الله يوم القيامة
”Sesungguhnya mereka itu, jika ada orang saleh yang mati di tengah mereka, mereka lalu membangun sebuah masjid di atas kuburnya dan menggambar gambar-gambar [orang saleh] itu. Maka mereka itu adalah seburuk-buruk makhluk di sisi Allah pada Hari Kiamat.” (HR Bukhari, no 417). (M. Ahmad Ali Washil, Ahkam At Tashwir fi Al Fiqh Al Islami, hlm. 153). Inilah pendapat ulama yang mengatakan menggambar atau membuat patung makhluk bernyawa hukumnya boleh asalkan tidak untuk disembah.
يَعْمَلُونَ لَهُ مَا يَشَاءُ مِنْ مَحَارِيبَ وَتَمَاثِيلَ
”Para jin itu membuat untuk Sulaiman apa yang dikehendakinya dari gedung-gedung yang tinggi dan patung-patung.” (QS Saba` [34] : 13). Tetapi dalil ini telah dikritik oleh para ulama, karena bolehnya patung itu adalah syariah zaman Nabi Sulaiman AS yang kini tak berlaku lagi dan sudah kadaluwarsa. Mengapa? Karena syariah Nabi Sulaiman AS itu telah di-nasakh (dihapus) oleh syariah Nabi Muhammad SAW yang mengharamkan patung dalam banyak hadits shahih. (Ali Ahmad Al Thahtawi, Hukmu At Tashwir fi Manzhur Islami, hlm. 130; Muqbil bin Hadi Al Wadi’i, Hukmu Tashwir Dzawat Al Arwah, hlm. 76).

مَنْ حَدَّثَ عَنِّى بِحَدِيثٍ يُرَى أَنَّهُ كَذِبٌ فَهُوَ أَحَدُ الْكَاذِبِينَ
Siapa meriwayatkan suatu hadits dariku dan dia tahu bahwa itu adalah dusta, maka dia adalah salah satu dari para pendusta. (HR. Muslim)
Di antaranya hadis Ibnu Umar radhiallahu ‘anhuma, bahwa Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam bersabda,
إنَّ الَّذينَ يصنَعونَ هذِه الصُّوَرَ يعذَّبونَ يومَ القيامةِ ، يقالُ لَهم : أحيوا ما خلقتُمْ
“Orang yang menggambar gambar-gambar ini (gambar makhluk bernyawa), akan diazab di hari kiamat, dan akan dikatakan kepada mereka, ‘Hidupkanlah apa yang kalian buat ini.’” (HR. Bukhari dan Muslim)
Dan hadis Abdullah bin Mas’ud radhiallahu ‘anhu, beliau berkata, “Aku mendengar Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam bersabda,
إنَّ أشدَّ النَّاسِ عذابًا عندَ اللَّهِ يومَ القيامةِ المصوِّرونَ
“Orang yang paling keras azabnya di hari kiamat, di sisi Allah, adalah tukang gambar.” (HR. Bukhari dan Muslim)
Dan hadis Abu Hurairah radhiallahu ‘anhu, beliau berkata, “Aku mendengar Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam bersabda,
قال اللهُ عزَّ وجلَّ : ومن أظلم ممن ذهبَ يخلقُ كخَلْقي ، فلْيَخْلُقوا ذرَّةً ، أو : لِيخْلُقوا حبَّةً ، أو شعيرةً
“Allah ‘Azza wa Jalla berfirman, ‘Siapakah yang lebih zalim daripada orang yang mencipta seperti ciptaan-Ku?’ Maka buatlah gambar biji, atau bibit tanaman, atau gandum.” (HR. Bukhari dan Muslim)
Dan hadits ‘Aisyah radhiallahu ‘anha, ia berkata,
قدم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من سفر وقد سترت سهوة لي بقرام فيه تماثيل، فلما رآه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم تلون وجهه، وقال: “يا عائشة، أشد الناس عذاباً عند الله يوم القيامة الذين يضاهئون بخلق الله”، فقطعناه فجعلنا منه وسادة أو وسادتين
“Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam pulang dari safar. Ketika itu aku menutup jendela rumah dengan gorden yang bergambar (makhluk bernyawa). Ketika melihatnya, wajah Rasulullah berubah. Beliau bersabda, “Wahai Aisyah, orang yang paling keras azabnya di hari kiamat adalah yang menandingin ciptaan Allah.” Lalu aku memotong-motongnya dan menjadikannya satu atau dua bantal.” (HR. Bukhari dan Muslim)
Nabi ﷺ bersabda,
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَصْنَعُونَ هَذِهِ الصُّوَرَ يُعَذَّبُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يُقَالُ لَهُمْ : أَحْيُوا مَا خَلَقْتُمْ
“Sesungguhnya mereka yang membuat gambar-gambar ini akan diazab pada hari kiamat seraya diseru, ‘Hidupkan apa yang kalian buat!’ ” (HR. Bukhari no. 5607 dan Muslim no. 2108)
أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُضَاهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ
“Manusia yang paling pedih azabnya pada hari kiamat adalah orang yang berusaha menyaingi ciptaan Allah.” (HR. Bukhari no. 5610 dan Muslim no. 2107)

Words العرا الذريعة وحمى الباب
"The factor that requires the prohibition on drawing in our sharia - wallahu a'lam - is the previous history of the Arab people who liked to worship idols and statues. They used to draw and then worship the image. So Allah cut off the path [to that worship] and closed the door [by forbidding drawing]." (Ibnul Arabi, Ahkamul Qur'an, 4/1588). (Al Mausu'ah Al Fiqhiyyah, 12/106; M. Ahmad Ali Washil, Ahkam At Tashwir fi Al Fiqh Al Islami, p. 152).

"Indeed they are, if there is a pious person who dies in the midst them, they then built a mosque over his grave and painted pictures of that [pious man]. So they will be the worst creatures in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection." (HR Bukhari, no. 417). (M. Ahmad Ali Washil, Ahkam At Tashwir fi Al Fiqh Al Islami, p. 153).
And the jinn made for Solomon whatever he wished, including tall buildings and statues. (Surah Saba` [34]: 13). However, this argument has been criticized by scholars, because the permissibility of statues is based on the Sharia of the time of Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him), which is now no longer valid and outdated. Why? Because the Sharia of Prophet Solomon (peace be upon him) was abrogated by the Sharia of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), which forbade statues in many authentic hadith. (Ali Ahmad Al Thahtawi, Hukmu At Tashwir fi Manzhur Islami, p. 130; Muqbil bin Hadi Al Wadi'i, Hukmu Tashwir Dzawat Al Arwah, p. 76).

مَنْ حَدَّثَ عَنِّى بِحَدِيثٍ يُرَى أَنَّهُ كَذِبٌ فَهُوَ God willing
Whoever narrates a hadith from me and he knows that it is a lie, then he is one of the liars. (HR. Muslim)
Among them is the hadith of Ibn Umar radhiallahu 'anhuma, that the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said,
God willing ، يقالُ لَهم : أحيوا ما خلقتُمْ
“People who draw these pictures (pictures of living creatures), will be punished On the Day of Resurrection, it will be said to them, "Bring back what you have created." (Narrated by Bukhari and Muslim)
And the hadith of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) states, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say,
"The most severe person in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection will be the painter." (HR. Bukhari and Muslim)
And in the hadith of Abu Hurairah radhiallahu 'anhu, he said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam say,
قال اللهُ عزَّ وجلَّ : ومن أظلم ممن ذهبَ يخلقُ كخَلْقي ، فلْيَخْلُقوا ذرَّةً ، أو : لِيخْلُقوا حبَّةً ، أو شعيرةً
"Allah 'Azza wa Jalla said, 'Who is more unjust than someone who creates like My creation?' So make a picture of seeds, or plant seeds, or wheat." (HR. Bukhari and Muslim)
And in the hadith of 'Aisyah radhiallahu 'anha, she said,
قدم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من سفر وقد سترت سهوة لي بقرام فيه تماثيل، فلما رآه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم message: “يا عائشة، أشد الناس عذاباً عند الله يوم القيامة God bless you
“Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam returned from travel. At that time I covered the windows of the house with curtains depicting (animate creatures). When he saw him, the face of the Prophet changed. He said, "O Aisyah, the people whose punishment will be harshest on the Day of Judgment will be those who rival Allah's creation." Then I cut them up and make them into a pillow or two.” (HR. Bukhari and Muslim)
The Prophet ﷺ said,
God willing يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يُقَالُ لَهُمْ : أَحْيُوا مَا خَلَقْتُمْ
"Indeed, those who make these pictures will be punished on the Day of Resurrection while they will be called, 'Live what you made!'" (HR. Bukhari no. 5607 and Muslim no. 2108)
God willing يُضَاهُونَ بِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ
"The people who will suffer the most painful punishment on the Day of Judgment will be those who try to compete with Allah's creation." (HR. Bukhari no. 5610 and Muslim no. 2107)
